Well I have finished two more rows and they set up the foundation for the FINAL ROW. Yes I am very excited as this major project is coming to an end. I know there are a lot of people who are not crazy about doilies but I think there is something special about a large piece of tatting like this that we can pass down to our children or someone special. There are few things left in this world that are special and are still handmade I say lets carry on the tradition before it disappears in this made by machine society.

Your doily is beautiful, Clyde! I agree... there is something special about being able to pass a beautiful hand-made piece of lace on to future generations.

This is work that Grandma Page would be proud of.

Wow, you're almost there! Keep tatting, you can do it!!! We're all routing for ya, CLyde. I think We all want a full photo with dimensions (stats....LOL) and everything. What a lovely treasure for your family.

I agree, Clyde. The doily will be a family heirloom.

I find that hand-mades are not given much appreciation nowadays. They want things fast and easy and yet still ask for quality. And you can't mass produce things you make by hand.

I agree Diane to me passing on to the next generation is special. You are right Daniel I think Grandma Page would be proud. Thank you Sherry I see it as a priceless treasure. Don't worry TattingChic when it is done I will be sure to post all the details. Jon, I think it is important that those of us who treasure handmade pass that value on to the next generation. Thank you Grizzly Mountain Arts and Bonnie.

I must echo everyone else's comments and add how much I admire your determation. This truly is lovely and will be treasured for many years. Maybe 100 years from now one of your descendents will be posting pictures of it on their computers!

I will HAVE to make a doily. Even my sister joined the bandwagon.

Thank you Laura I to think this doily is a real treasure. Zarina I think everyone should make at least one tatted doily. I know you will be happy if you do.

Clyde, it is so gorgeous and it will be treasured for years. Very well done in deed.
I love tatting doilies and think that every tatter should at least make one doily. They do not have to be the huge ones like yours, my hands do not like holding those while tatting them unfortunately, but there are so many beautiful medium sizes and smaller ones too.
Yes it is such a pity that some people values a thing bought in a shop more than a thing someone have done with their hands. Sadly my nieces are like that too.

what a beautiful doily! And you worded my opinion perfectly: doilies are special and very definitely have a place of honor in tatting. :)
